Deacons Corner
Summer 2025
The Deacons celebrate our yearly accomplishments each June, which we know cannot be done without the congregations loving support! We do not meet in July or August, but are still active in our duties and are available to assist our members.
Recent Events:
Mother’s Day & Father’s Day - carnations and candy bars were given out.
Sunshine Luncheon - a small number attended this year, but a great time was had by our seasoned single folks. Food & desserts were provided by the deacons and beautiful flower arrangements for favors were made by Barbara Kratzer.
Graduate Sunday - 3 graduates were honored during worship service: Noah Elliott Wash. Twp. HS, Natalea Zorio GCIT HS, Anthony Urion Penn State U. Human Development & Family Studies BS degree. They were treated with gifts and taken out to lunch after worship service (parents & siblings too)!
Home Communion was distributed two different dates by Nancy MacDermott & Joyce Woodrow…if you know someone who cannot make it to church for communion, please notify the church office or Joyce W.
Smile Fund – occasionally someone from our church family experiences tough circumstances. The deacons send them a “Smile” card & gift card to cheer them. Please let us know if you know any member going through a trying time.
Correspondence Committee is busy mailing cards to members. Each month they send 30 to 50 cards. Please notify Deb Becker if your birthday or anniversary cards are not being received.
Visits: We continue to visit and make phone calls to Special Members and Members. If you wish a visit from Pastor Will or a deacon, please contact the church office!
Prayer Requests: Send to Joyce Woodrow: woody1@comcast.net or as always you can fill out the yellow prayer cards in the pew pockets and hand to the head usher or Pastor Will, each Sunday. He will pray at Sunday worship service for your loved ones. Please send updates for folks already on the prayer list or if names can be removed.
To the most supportive, loving congregation: Thank you for all the food donations for GWCM food bank! More than 1500 items have been collected so far this year…and we have another 6 months to go. Also thank you for the monetary support with the special gold-trimmed envelopes in your offering envelope box! We can only serve others with your support!
Our next deacons’ meeting is September 23, 2025
God Bless,
